After months of study and research I believe I've finally unlocked the secrets of this peculiar slab. The runes carved into it explain to the user how to harness the slab's power to manipulate the earth! I've done a bit of... light testing and have found it is possible to create and command powerful stone creatures. They should prove to be quite useful in future research expeditions, especially in the event of a light scuffle.
